We Are a Community Powered Movement

Squawk Global was born from a simple but urgent necessity: the need for transparency in parrot advocacy. While the digital world is full of bird content, it is often missing the “Unfiltered Truth.” We bridge that gap by providing a one-stop shop for investigative storytelling and vetted resources that prioritize the welfare of parrots above all else.

We believe that real change doesn’t come from the top down—it comes from a global community of advocates who are equipped with the right knowledge. By staying independent and community-funded, we ensure our voice remains uncompromised as we work to expose systemic issues in the parrot trade and empower guardians with the truth.

From Viral Fame to Global Advocacy

Squawk Global began with Gizmo the Grey Bird, our African Grey who became a viral superstar with over 3 million followers. We loved sharing his personality with the world, but as our videos reached millions, we saw a troubling trend: we were inadvertently driving a massive demand for parrots.

The turning point came when we read the Rolling Stone investigation into the African Grey black market. We realized that by sharing “cute” content without context, we were part of the problem. We felt a deep responsibility to use our platform to limit the very demand we helped create.

In February 2026, exactly four years after we rescued Gizmo, we launched Squawk Global. Our mission is to pivot from simple entertainment to “Unfiltered Advocacy,” providing the truth about the parrot trade and equipping guardians with the vetted resources they need to protect these birds, rather than just consume them.
